Hair Stylists SeattleHEATHER STROCK
I began my hair career as an apprentice at a curly hair specialty salon in 2005 while studying music at the University of Arizona. I love all hair types and especially enjoy teaching clients how to create styles and care for their hair on their own between salon appointments. My specialties are soft, pretty color and simple, versatile haircuts.

I spend much of my free time keeping up with the newest hair techniques and trends by attending webinars, reading trade articles, and as a member of online communities of stylists and have pursued advanced education throughout my career, beginning with a year long apprenticeship. I have taken classes in Las Vegas, Costa Mesa, Tucson, Phoenix, New York and Seattle. Some of my favorites were basics from Paul Mitchell, cutting from Vidal Sassoon, coloring and highlighting from Aveda and styling from TIGI.

I was inspired to open Canary Salon as an alternative to salons that are wildly edgy or intimidatingly fancy. An awesome yelper once said "like baby bear's porridge, Heather was just right". I hope that's how you'll feel about Canary Salon every time you visit.

Heather is no longer accpeting new clients.  If you're a new client, we ecourage you to see any of our other fabulous stylists.

I have been doing hair since 2009, it is my one and only true passion. People come to me for hair color that truly POPS! I love vivid color, bouncy beautiful hair, and most of all my clients. I received my formal training from Gene Juarez and advanced training from Paul Mitchell and at the TIGI Academy in New York City. I especially love men's cuts and working with Pravana Vivids and Pravana Pastels. I also possess a mobile business license that allows me to come to you to style your hair for your wedding or other special occasion. Hair Stylists SeattleCHRISTI MCKAY
I have been doing art since I was young in one form or another. I was able to combine my love for art into a career by enrolling in beauty school and graduated with honors: I won both the Guest Service Award and the Most Inspirational Award for my graduating class. I was invited to instructor training with the Gene Juarez Academy, and was fortunate enough to work as an educator for them, training new stylists all over Seattle since 2009. However, I really missed being behind the chair. I began working in a salon in Tacoma where I lived for a few years before joining the Canary team in 2015.

My desire to learn has me going to classes to keep up with current trends and techniques. This year I have gone to Guy Advanced Academy in Dallas, Texas, a cut and balayage class in California, plus cut and color classes on location here at Canary Salon in Seattle.

I love balayage, long layered cuts, men's cuts, and fun colors. I feel very fortunate to be able to help people feel good and have a better day than when they started!

My love of hair and beauty has always been a huge part of my life, but I never thought I could turn it into a career until I found Canary Salon. While on a break from college I fell in love with the salon and my stylist Rochelle inspired me to do what I love and jump into beauty school.
During my time at Gene Juarez Academy I took my guest experiences and education very seriously and earned multiple awards in school for guest service and graduated as the class valedictorian. In March I started my extensive 6 month advanced training program here at Canary Salon, and gained crucial knowledge to give me a solid foundation for my career. I’ve taken color and cutting classes through Paul Mitchell and most recently I had the opportunity to take a class with a number of Instagram's best stylists that included Larisa Love, Rickey Zito, and Linh Phan. The class focused on advanced techniques on balayage, vivid colors and placement, along with haircutting.

I love seeing both the physical and emotional transformation that takes place before and after a client sits in my chair and being able to take part in that magic is exactly the reason why I got into this industry.

Hair Stylists SeattleABIGAIL VEHORN
I am so excited to be joining the team at Canary Salon! I hail from the south end of Whidbey Island, Washington, but have been living on Capitol Hill since 2006. I am consistently inspired by the creative pulse of the neighborhood. I'm a passionate hair stylist and graduated from the Gary Manuel Aveda Institute in the spring of 2015, where my love for creative and trending hair color was deepened along with my proficiency for beautiful hair cuts. My passion for hair stems from a lifelong obsession with all things beauty and fashion related, but my primary goal is to make all guests feel like they leave the salon the best possible version of themselves. I truly believe in the transformative power of feeling great on the outside, and strive for my work to reflect that.

Abigail is currently finishing up our advanced training program. To be a hair model for Abigail, email or text the salon with details about your hair and what you're willing to have done and we will get back to you in a few weeks if something opens up!
