I began my hair career as an apprentice at a curly hair specialty salon in 2005 while studying music at the University of Arizona. I love all hair types and especially enjoy teaching clients how to create styles and care for their hair on their own between salon appointments. My specialties are soft, pretty color and simple, versatile haircuts.
I spend much of my free time keeping up with the newest hair techniques and trends by attending webinars, reading trade articles, and as a member of online communities of stylists and have pursued advanced education throughout my career, beginning with a year long apprenticeship. I have taken classes in Las Vegas, Costa Mesa, Tucson, Phoenix, New York and Seattle. Some of my favorites were basics from Paul Mitchell, cutting from Vidal Sassoon, coloring and highlighting from Aveda.
I was inspired to open Canary Salon as an alternative to salons that are wildly edgy or intimidatingly fancy. An awesome yelper once said "like baby bear's porridge, Heather was just right". I hope that's how you'll feel about Canary Salon every time you visit.

I have been doing hair since 2009, it is my one and only true passion. People come to me for hair color that truly POPS! I love vivid color, bouncy beautiful hair, and most of all my clients. I received my formal training from Gene Juarez and advanced training from Paul Mitchell and at the TIGI Academy in New York City. I especially love men's cuts and working with Pravana Vivids and Pravana Pastels. I also possess a mobile business license that allows me to come to you to style your hair for your wedding or other special occasion. Feel free to call or text or even book a consultation with me and let's talk!.

In 2010, I moved from a small town in Nevada to attend the Aveda Institute and have more opportunities in my life. Once I found Canary Salon, my career took off and really made me love what I do. I appreciate everything I am progressively learning each day because of the wonderful, smart, and well educated people I get to work with.
My main specialties are balayage and short textured cuts. I love helping people find their personal style and adventuring into new directions when they’re ready for something completely new and different.
Come see me and I will transform your hair into something beautiful.

My love affair with the beauty industry began at a young age, when my older sister enrolled in beauty school and started experimenting on my hair. But, my independent streak made me want to seek my own path, so I started in this industry as a makeup artist. In the ten years I’ve been doing makeup, I’ve worked on weddings, photoshoots, fashion shows, and hair shows. I’ve been educated and worked with some of the industry’s leading brands, most recently NARS and Chanel. I’ve refined my artistry over the years, and I still continue to love makeup every day.
However, I’d always been inspired and drawn to hair, so I took the plunge and enrolled at Paul Mitchell the School in San Diego in 2012, and I’ve been obsessed ever since. I pushed myself through the optional Honors Program and outside advanced education to learn as much as I could while in school. Once I was licensed, I assisted a Master Colorist in a Goldwell salon in San Diego, as well as simultaneously beginning my career as a stylist. It was a great experience that was fast-paced, educational, and pushed me as a beauty professional. Now, I’m so excited to be at Canary Salon! I specialize in wearable, textured haircuts, blowdries and styling, color, and makeup. I love helping clients achieve their beauty goals, and teaching my clients how to care for and style their hair at home. Hope to see you in my chair soon!

As a fresh graduate from the Gene Juarez Academy, I'm truly excited to have the opportunity to start my career assisting these talented ladies at Canary Salon. I love seeing both the physical and emotional transformation that happens before and after a client sits in the chair and being able to take part in that magic is exactly the reason why I got into this industry.
At the Gene Juarez Academy my passion for hair only grew as I treated every day as a challenge to create something new and beautiful, whether that was a fun color or a just a new way to style a client's hair. I worked hard to build a strong connection with my clients and listened to their needs so that I could give them the hair they wanted. I earned multiple awards at school in guest service, along with the overall guest service award at our graduation ceremony. I took every aspect of my education seriously and focused on pushing myself to be my best and was rewarded by being named the class valedictorian.
It's an honor to be working and learning from such amazing stylists and I can't wait to see where this next chapter takes me!
